Yesterday the Jr Class officers and Prom Committee members participated in the Geary Parade in hopes of winning the grand prize to add to their account to put on prom. They won first in their division and Reserve Championship overall, taking home $600! They put this together in four days and even had a few join the day before and the day of! Everyone enjoyed it so much.

Chieftain Time brought back Art with Mrs. Howell and collaborated with Mrs. Taylor from the elementary to do a Chihuly inspired art sculpture to hang in the High School! We have AMAZING artists at CHS! #BeAChieftain

Calumet took 36 runners to Lomega today to compete in XC. All of our athletes made us proud, and we are bringing home lots of medals!
S/O to Ryder Garrett for taking FIRST place in the JH division & to James Havener for taking SECOND in the HS division (he hopped on the bus and got started on his homework—we love to see him excel in all areas!).
Emi Wells is bringing home a 2nd place finish in the lower elementary division, and Ellis Stewart finished fifth in the upper elementary division!
As always, it’s a great day to be a Chieftain!

Our XC teams were supposed to run at Carl Albert today, but with all the rain the meet had to be rescheduled. The elementary team met after school to complete their mile! They earned a "ribbon" instead of a medal today.
Congratulations to Ellis Stewart who was our first runner to cross the finish line, beating his previous time by 15 seconds! Kyson Base and Emi Wells were right behind him- all finishing in under 9 minutes.
S/O to Asher Curtis for shaving off a full minute and 6 seconds from his mile time & to Finley Chambless for cutting her time down by 20 seconds!
All the hard work is paying off and we love to see the improvements and confidence soar!

The CHS Biology 1 and Biology 2 students spent last week planning a science experiment to find the percentage of bacteria killed using 2 different soaps and the school sanitizer. This week they swabbed their hands for bacteria, grew the bacteria in a Petri dish 🧫 , counted the bacterial colonies, and analyzed their data📊 .
After comparing the colonies growing before and after cleaning their hands, they have great news to share... our school sanitizer is very effective!!👏 We have enjoyed kicking the year off with a fun and relevant experiment🦠

It's time! The 3/4 and 5/6 girls basketball teams will kick off their season on Sept 4th. I would like to have a short parent meeting on Wednesday, Sept 3rd at 7pm. We will discuss the upcoming season as well as the future for our Lady Chieftains.
