A note from the counselor: I sincerely hope that all our Calumet students and their families have been able to stay healthy and find some peace at home despite the social turmoil that our society is currently experiencing. It is, without a doubt, scary and confusing for every person involved. CPS leadership is working hard to provide answers regarding distance learning, picking up property, graduation, etc. The district wants to reassure you that we will communicate answers to you as soon as we have them. Right now we know that the state is requiring schools to provide online curriculum for students starting the week of April 6th. We will have more information for everyone at that time. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we navigate this new territory! As always, please contact me if your student needs support or resources to be successful during this stressful time. 405-893-2497 / evanss@chs.k12.ok.us

Kindness Week Dress-Up Days: February 18-21 Next week is “Kindness Week,” and StuCo’s theme this year is “Create Lasting Kindness.” We’ve decided to center our dress-up days around this theme, as it centers around different time periods in life. Our hope is that this week creates acts of kindness that do not end this week, but that create a lasting impact on the students, teachers, staff, administration, parents, community, and culture of Calumet Public Schools. Here’s to creating lasting kindness! Monday- No school Tuesday- Peace, Love, and Kindness: Dress Up Like You’re In the 70’s Wednesday- Kindness Never Gets Old: Dress Like An Older Person Thursday- Rock Out With Kindness: Dress Like A Rock Star (Past or Present) Friday- The Spirit of Kindness Lasts Forever: Chieftain Spirit

This photo is being entered in the National Red Ribbon Week photo contest. It depicts a younger girl looking up to an older girl holding a sign that says “I am always watching.” The theme for Red Ribbon Week this year is “Send A Message. Stay Drug Free.” That message and the ribbon have to be in the photo. The balloon has a picture of a teenager who died of a drug overdose, and the older girl is holding the balloon as if it is floating to heaven. This is symbolizing that she is sending a message to the younger girl that drugs kill. Wish us luck on this contest as the winner gets $1000 and an iPad.
