Dear Calumet school family:
It is never easy to share concerning news about school issues; however, I want you to know I will always communicate as openly and transparently as possible with our school family.
I am writing to tell you about an incident that occurred today at Calumet High School. At the end of the school day, the principal was investigating a situation regarding the vape sensors going off. During the course of a bag search, a firearm was found. While the weapon was not loaded and there was no ammunition, this is a terrifying situation for everyone.
Student privacy laws prohibit me from sharing additional information about this incident; however, please know that both law enforcement and the school administration are addressing the matter.
There is nothing more important to Calumet Public School than the safety, health, and well-being of our students and staff. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
